Commander of the Week: Elenda, the Dusk Rose
Meet this week's Commander of the Week: Elenda, the Dusk Rose, a Legendary Creature - Vampire Knight leading an Orzhov deck that treats every death on the battlefield as an opportunity. She comes with lifelink, and whenever another creature dies, she grows with a +1/+1 counter. It doesn't matter whose creature it was, so combat, removal, and board wipes all feed her. The longer a game of Commander drags on and the messier the table gets, the bigger and healthier she becomes.
The real fun is what happens when she dies, because she leaves behind X 1/1 white Vampire tokens with lifelink, where X is her power. Killing her is a gamble for your opponents, since the bigger she gets, the bigger the swarm she leaves. That makes her a natural centerpiece for a sacrifice deck: feed your own creatures to her, watch the counters pile up, and enjoy the payoff whether she survives or not. Add a token-making and Vampire tribal plan, and you have a deck that drains, grows, and keeps coming back for more. If you like the idea of a commander that gets stronger from chaos and punishes anyone who tries to remove her, Elenda deserves a spot on your shortlist.
